PhD Thesis Public Defense and viva voce Examination of Ms Hira Liaqat

Centre for Clinical Psychology is pleased to announce a successful Public Defense and Viva Voce of PhD scholar & Lecturer (CCP). She has completed her dissertation "Psychosocial Correlates of Chronic Pain and Effectiveness of Focussing in its Management" in the discipline of Clinical Psychology, under supervision of Prof. Dr. Saima Dawood. External Supervisors, Dr. Suneel Samuel (Professor of Psychology, Forman Christian College) and Prof. Dr. Masha Asad Dean Social Sciences & Law, Kinnaird College for Women University) appreciated her research work.

Her research work was based on psychosocial implications of chronic pain and subsequent debilitating effects on quality of life. Findings further provided an evidence of therapeutic benefits of Focusing oriented psychotherapy approach in managing psychosocial complications associated with pain. This PhD work has highlighted the importance of targeting psychosocial needs of patients with chronic pain and integration of psychotherapy in their pain treatment.
